The Need
At the Mezzocorona plant in the province of Trento, CarboREM was tasked with treating and converting sludge from Trentino’s wine cellars and dairies.
The Project
During the plant’s development, CarboREM internally created a Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform compatible with the standards required by Industry 4.0. Specifically, the platform allowed for:
• Replicating measurements from PLC
• Automatically logging measurements (day, month, year);
• Comparing measurements and creating dedicated charts;
• Visualizing production and cleaning cycles, plant productivity, and energy consumption;
• Managing maintenance notes and activities according to predictive maintenance logic.
The platform also made it possible to set minimum and maximum threshold levels, beyond which alarms are automatically generated. The operator in charge of plant management was thus able to intervene in real-time, tracing any fault or malfunction directly.
The Implementation
The plant became operational between 2019 and 2020, remaining active from 2020 to 2023.
