The C5000 plant at the Liscate (MI) purification system is the first of its kind in Italy and a model for Europe and the world.

The Need

The Liscate purification system is a platform for treating liquid waste, primarily industrial (from pharmaceutical, food, metalworking industries) as well as civil wastewater, with a maximum daily capacity of 750 cubic meters. The plant produces 5 thousand tonnes per year of dewatered sludge at 30%: with CarboREM’s HTC application, the minimum expected reduction is to half, down to 2,500 tonnes. The technology’s objective is to reduce sludge volumes, and in a second phase, to increase biogas production.

The Project

The C5000 plant for the Liscate purification system is the first application of the HTC technology and, for this reason, represented a major milestone in CarboREM’s research and development, bringing together all the company’s analysis and engineering capabilities.

The Implementation

The inauguration of the C5000 took place on October 8, 2025, with a well-attended event, following over 2 years of work.
